September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and to show you how much we love our library cardholders, we’re hosting Card Crawl 2025! Bring in your card—or get one—on Saturday, Sept. 27 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), and explore the building to unlock loads of library fun! You’ll find fun freebies all over the building, a big book sale, new library card designs, a Choose Your Flavor Adventure, cool craft activities, a grand prize drawing, and soooooo much more. You’ll even get FREE bus rides from Eau Claire Transit!

 

Get a Library Card!

Don’t have a card? All day long, stop by the big Customer Services desk on Level 1 to sign up for a library card. Our friendly staff makes it easy! And for today only, if your library card’s been lost or damaged, we’ll replace it for free with our special vintage version! (Psssst! You can also win a special prize for installing our MORE Libraries app.)

Schedule of Events

Friends of the Library Bag Sale
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. • Level 0: Dabble Box Courtyard (outside) • It’s the return of the famous bag sale! Fill up a bag of books and take it home for a suggested goodwill donation.

Art Supply Swap Meet
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. • Level 0: RCU Dabble Box Makerspace • Bring your extra art supplies to give away and take home new-to-you items! Supply drop-off starts at 10 a.m., swap runs 11 a.m.–1 p.m.

Family Storytime + ARTmobile
10:30 to 12:15 a.m. • Level 1: Youth Program Room • Enjoy storytime for the whole family followed by an art project with the Pablo Center’s ARTmobile!

Bedazzlin’ Bookends
12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. • Level 3: Riverview Room • Decorate your own amazing bookends and take ’em home! (We supply everything you’ll need.)

Saturday Sparks: Play Day
1 to 3 p.m. • Level 1: Youth Program Room • Recommended for kids in grades K-6, ignite curiosity with play-based activities and hands-on engineering challenges.

Choose Your Flavor Adventure

Take your taste buds on an adventure before you even enter the building. Right outside the front doors, you’ll have a chance to select up to three pieces of saltwater taffy whose flavor is a mystery until you eat them!

Stop by our Library of Things on Level 1 at any time to enter our grand prize drawing for this year’s Basket o’ Bookish Delights.

Kids DIY Library Card Lanyard

Kids can stop by the Tween Lounge (10 a.m.–2 p.m.) to craft and decorate their own lanyard card holder.

Kids Choose Your Own Adventure Hunt

Drop by the Youth Services Desk to begin a special adventure hunt. Participants will solve puzzles and codes to unlock a prize.

Take Selfies with Our VERY LARGE LIBRARY CARDS

Library of Things Petting Zoo

All day long, check out a rotating display of cool Library of Things items—great gear you can check out like a book!

Lost Bookmark Adoption Center

On Level 1 near the big Customer Services desk, check out a display of all the forgotten bookmarks our Circulation Department has collected over the years. And they’re all free to a good home!

Take the Greatest Adventure: Reading

Feel like expanding your reading horizons? Up on Level 2, chat with a friendly Reference Librarian to learn about our remarkable reading recommendation tools. 

 

And There’s FREE Bus Rides?!

Yep—for one day only, your card is a bus pass! All day on Sept. 27, the fine folks at Eau Claire Transit will provide free bus rides on any route (to destination), when you show the driver your library card (or the MORE Libraries app on your phone). Each passenger must have their own library card/account to show.

Don’t forget! We love to see your library card, and you’ll need it to unlock the fun. So before you come, grab your card, install the MORE Libraries app on your phone, or get ready to sign up for a shiny new card.
