The Chippewa and Eau Claire Rivers once provided formidable barriers between the three towns clustered at the confluence. Since the first fully functional bridge was built in 1862, Eau Claire has become a city of bridges. We will briefly trace the history of each of Eau Claire’s twenty-four still functioning bridges, but we will focus mainly on the
pedestrian and bicycle bridges. Co-sponsored by Chippewa Valley Learning in Retirement.
