Listen closely! From the plaintive ‘hoo-hoo-hoo’ of the Saw-whet Owl to the probing question, ‘Who cooks for you?’ of the Barred Owl, northern Wisconsin forests resound with the calls of nocturnal birds. Lauren will share information about the calls and sounds of our resident owls and other night birds, all of which are heard more often than seen. Dr. Wentz’s research on the nocturnal vocalizations of loons resulted in some startling nighttime encounters with other winged creatures of the Wisconsin northwoods. Co-sponsored by Chippewa Valley Learning in Retirement.
