Most trees in the urban forest are growing in people’s yards, yet the services they provide are shared by the whole community. Abby Krause, West Region Urban Forestry Coordinator for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will provide an overview of exactly what urban forestry is and the benefits trees have to offer, as well as considerations when selecting a new tree to plant and basic maintenance needs.
