Join writer Ken Szymanski and musician Derick Black as they share experiences regarding the connection between music and stories, as well as provide tips to creatives looking for inspiration in these areas of artistry. Szymanski and Black have worked together for years as teachers and performers, channeling their love of music into “literary concerts.” Participants will hear live music and do some of their own writing. All skill levels are welcome! Books will be available for sale following the program.
About the Presenters
Ken Szymanski is Eau Claire’s 2020-2025 Writer-in-Residence and the author of Home Field Advantage and Sit Down & Stay Awhile. Derick Black is a singer-songwriter who has created live soundtracks for many literary events including Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Wisconsin Life.” Both presenters teach English at Eau Claire DeLong Middle School, with decades of combined teaching and performing experience.
