Program Description

Details

Who were the local women who joined the second-wave resurgence of the KKK in the 1920s? What do we know about their lives and motivations? The library’s own Alyson Jones, MLS, MSc. presents her research into membership in Chippewa County. She will discuss how to supplement sparse membership records with other primary sources like censuses, newspapers, and vital records, and use record linkage and family reconstruction to create robust profiles of these women and contextualize them within their community.

Registration is requested.

This event is part of the Dirty Laundry genealogy series. Family histories aren’t always happy. Join us for one or all three presentations on uncovering dark family secrets. Of special interest to genealogists and local historians, but enlightening for all, topics include ancestors in mental institutions, the Ku Klux Klan, and prison.
