Program Description

Details

Learn about the ancestors our families won’t talk about by using prison and legal records, archives, online databases, and newspapers. Presenter Eleanor Brinsko, MLIS, specializes in Scandinavian-American and Midwestern genealogy. She has given lectures for the Wisconsin Historical Society, public libraries, and genealogical societies around the United States. She also contributed to the PBS show Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr.

Registration is requested.

This event is part of the Dirty Laundry genealogy series. Family histories aren’t always happy. Join us for one or all three presentations on uncovering dark family secrets. Of special interest to genealogists and local historians, but enlightening for all, topics include ancestors in mental institutions, the Ku Klux Klan, and prison.
