The Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin

Presenter: Sarah Vitale | The Freshwater collaborative of Wisconsin is a partnership of Wisconsin’s 13 public universities working to ensure Wisconsin’s water systems are healthy and reliable for generations to come. To reach this goal, they have strived to build a workforce of talented water professionals through UW System-wide programs, internships, and research opportunities that teach students real world skills.

Protecting Canoe Country: Local Roots to National Impact

Presenter: Ingrid Lyons, Executive Director of Campaign to Save the BWCA | Ten years ago, the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters was created around a kitchen table. Now, the effort to protect America’s canoe country from copper mining is a nationall movement. Ingrid will discuss the Campaign’s evolution, the core strategies that have led to major successes, what’s next in the fight for permanent protection of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
